This section provides information on the many non-fish species which are present in the seas around the British Isles. While none of these species are targeted by UK anglers (although crabs and lobsters can be inadvertently caught), they do make up an important part of Britain’s marine eco-system. Shellfish species and worm and other species which are commonly used as bait are not featured here, although there is a section on shellfish as bait on this website. Similarly, there is additional information on squid and cuttlefish and their uses as bait and a section on crabs as bait as well.
