The Atlantic bobtail is a small cephalopod species found around most of the UK. Its range extends into African waters, but it appears to be absent from both the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Despite its small size it is a predatory species which will prey on small fish and crustaceans, working as an ambush predator to catch them. They can be found in both shallow intertidal waters and much further out to sea.
