Port St Mary: The breakwater at Port St Mary is a mark can fish well for summer mackerel on feathers, daylights and spinners, while pollock can also be caught on lures. Presenting baits such as ragworm, lugworm, fish strip and peeler crab can produce wrasse and possibly school bass and dogfish. Mullet can also be present in certain conditions, while fishing at night with large hooks (size 6/0 or larger) baited with squid, mackerel or bluey baits can conger eels at night. Nearby Chapel Beach and rock ledge marks can also fish well for similar species.
Port Erin: There are a variety of places to fish around Port Erin. The beach can be too busy to fish from but can produce some of the previously mentioned species if it is quiet. Raglan Pier (with the lighthouse at the end) can produce dogfish and wrasse to baits such as ragworm, lugworm, fish strip, squid and peeler crab fished on size 1/0 or 2/0 hooks on the seabed. Mackerel can be caught in the summer and pollock and coalfish can be caught on both lures and the previously mentioned baits presented on the seabed. Float fishing can also catch wrasse. Many rocky areas to either side of the beach are accessible and can produce similar species as well as conger eels.
Peel: The breakwaters and harbour walls around Peel Castle can be fished (mostly around high tide) and can produce bass, wrasse, dogfish, pollock and coalfish to bottom fished baits such as worm, fish strip, peeler crab and squid, with the latter two species, along with mackerel being caught on lures in the summer months. Mullet can also be present in the sheltered waters in and around the harbour. Conger eels can be caught around some of the rockier areas. The beaches around Peel can fish well for flatfish species and bass.
Laxley Breakwater and Surrounding Areas: This mark can be fished at high tide and mackerel can be caught to spinners, feathers and daylights, along with other predatory fish such as pollock and coalfish which can be caught on spinners and soft jelly lures. Wrasse and potentially bass can be caught to worm, fish, squid and crab baits presented on the seabed on size 1/0 or 2/0 hooks, and conger eels can be caught on big squid and fish baits and big hooks.
Douglas: The rocky fishing mark of Douglas Head can produce a wide range of species including wrasse, bass, and dogfish to baits (worm, shellfish, crab and fish strip) and coalfish and pollock to spinners and soft jelly lures (although the latter two species can also be caught with bait). Large conger eels can also be caught by anglers using heavy rods and large squid, mackerel or bluey baits on big hooks. Marks around Douglas Harbour and surrounding beaches can also fish well for similar species.
