Wishbone Rig

A wishbone rig (named after the Y-shaped wishbone found in bird skeletons) is relatively rarely used by British anglers. It is, however, a useful and effective rig as it allows two different baits to be presented in close proximity. This allows the scent trail to be concentrated into a smaller area and allows two separate baits to be used so the most effective one can be identified. A wishbone rig should always be clipped down behind an impact shield as the snood is somewhat complicated and it will potentially become tangled if it is left flapping. Due to the fairly complex design of the wishbone rig it is best to use it over sandy and snag-free beaches, as it is not particularly suited to rough ground.
