This is similar to the basic rough ground rig. However, the addition of a cheap and simple bait clip means that big baits such as whole squid, mackerel fillets and large cocktail baits (which would swing around during the cast) can be clipped down to help reduce tangles and aid smooth casting. A simple metal bait clip is used, rather than an impact shield, in order to reduce the cost of this rig and a simple weak link clip ireplaces the Gemini Breaker. The rest of the rig keeps the same simple design as the basic rough ground rig to limit the metalwork which can become snagged and keep costs down.
