Uni Knot

The uni knot (short for universal knot) is the most commonly used knot in UK sea fishing. It is used to attach an item of terminal tackle such as a hook, swivel or link to a length of line. The uni knot is small, strong and compact and the tag ends that are left can be cut very short indeed which is an advantage when threading delicate baits up a line. All of the other knots featured on this website are based on the uni knot (apart from the dropper knot), so once this knot has been mastered the other knots will be easy to tie.
